Can an electricity supplier backdate billing? What about Ofgem rules?
Ofgem regulations set out provisions which limit energy suppliers from issuing back bills for periods exceeding 12 months under certain conditions. These rules are in place to ensure fairness and transparency for consumers.
However, it is important to note that this limitation applies specifically to domestic customers and microbusinesses only. Having consulted with our Energy Broker, Usave Utility Contracts, we can confirm that the back billing regulation does not apply to supplies managed by R+L, on contracts previously held with SSE.
